Embarrassed to tell your doctor something? Try these tips!

You're ready to go for your yearly check-up and you KNOW the doctor's going to ask you all of those personal questions (like do you smoke, have you ever done drugs, is anything bothering you, etc).

The answers to his/her questions are IMPORTANT in finding and treating anything that might be wrong with you. I KNOW that answering these can sometimes be REALLY embarrassing. Here are a few things that you can do to get the ball rolling

1. If you just go ahead and say -  “This is really embarrassing for me, but I have to tell you about…” you'll be FORCED to keep going.

2. Some people feel more comfortable talking to the nurse rather than the doctor. You might want to start there.

3. If you know your doctor uses e-mail - why not send him a quick note explaining the problem.
