It's time for a SPENDERVENTION!

ME - I'm the type of girl (ahem - woman) who expects to get the MOST for her money. That being said, I also like to have the VERY BEST. I've never been and never will be a schlock-shopper. It's not necessarily that I have to have brand names on everything, but I expect quality and quite often the brand names produce a better quality of merchandise. Who am I kidding? I LIKE the good stuff.

I have a girlfriend who's name I won't mention (*cough*Sandy*cough*) who TRULY believed that if you spent MORE on an item, that it was BETTER. She wouldn't step foot into an Off-Price retailer or discount store (but she would shop sales at the Mall stores when she was short of cash). Me on the other hand, I swear that the salespeople know me by name in my favorite stores (hey, I'm not embarrassed - I get the heads up on the best deals because of it).

We DO go shopping together, but it's always an interesting affair (with each of us bored at the other's shopping "style"). I knew that it was time for a SPENDERVENTION, because she doesn't have the extra money to be throwing away at those HIGH PRICED PALM BEACH stores.

OK, girlfriend - I'm going to TEACH YOU how you can save up to 50%-70% off on the SAME MERCHANDISE as in your favorite stores. You're coming with me and you're liking it I told her. Once again, she reluctantly came with me - but this time I was FORCED to show her how much she would be saving. I KNOW what she likes (she's like me - she likes THE GOOD STUFF). So, we went to my favorite stores T.J. Maxx and Marshall's - the two TOP Off-Priced retailers around.

It was Sunday at 3:00 PM. BAD MOVE ON MY PART (I should know better). We walked into TJ Maxx and it was a bit disorganized, enough so that she could say "I told you so" to me. That was UNTIL......we saw them. On the clearance rack calling BOTH of our names was a pair of Kate Spade heels in orange and fuscia. We HAD to try them on (yes there were pairs in BOTH of our sizes). These shoes that are regularly close to $300 a pair, were marked down to under $100. Then it was on the the Lilly Pulitzer polo shirts for under $30. From that point on, there was NO stopping her. She even asked me if there was more of the same at Marshall's.

I laughed and said - LET'S GO FIND OUT!! If you hadn't figured it out, we're both shoe-a-holics and Marshall's had a MEGA shoe department, with LOTS of brand names including COACH for 50% off. At the end of the day, I deemed the Spendervention a SUCCESS. Now I'm not saying that she won't still go to the Mall to shop (she's just not the stopping cold turkey type), but I KNOW that she'll be ducking into TJ Maxx and Marshall's to check out what they have BEFORE she spends the BIG BUCKS!
