One of the techniques that I use to Live the Good Life on Less is to mystery shop for various companies.
It's a very simple concept actually. Companies pay me (and YOU) to go undercover and report on their operation from the customer's point of view. This way they can monitor and improve the quality of service and be sure that their front line is adhering to the Brand Standards that they've set.
Some of the things I may be asked to do include going into a store and wait to see how long it takes a salesperson to help me. The company may want to know if that associate tried to add on any sales or if they responded knowledgeably when I asked about a particular product. Timing, product knowledge, customer service, cleanliness and consistency are all key points that you'll be observing throughout your shop.
Sometimes I am asked to go visit a competitor and report back on THEIR operation. Companies are always looking for ways to increase their traffic, create customer loyalty and offer excellent customer service.
So what do they expect from you? DETAILS. A keen eye for detail as well as a good memory are really all that it takes to succeed. Well, that and the ability to write. Your reports will be sent directly to the client, so spelling, punctuation and grammar are very important.
How do you get started? You can start by looking through the listings of mystery shopping
and secret shopping companies that I've posted previously. Look through some of the posts that are listed under "THE MOGUL" on the navigation bar as well, as you'll always find plenty of practical advice and listings of work at home jobs.
Other companies that you might want to check out are
- Secret Shopper (aka: Sights on Service)

I do mystery shopping all the time and it is so much fun to get to go out for Free. When you are on a budget, it's nice to know that you go out and have a nice dinner and then get reimbursed for it.
