New Year's Resolutions - don't be destined to fail.

I got to thinking, that January 1st is a mere sixteen days away. The ONE day of the year that we put an ENORMOUS amount of pressure on ourselves to CHANGE. Most of us (myself included) make an incredibly LARGE list that would set even the most disciplined person up for failure.

So, have I made a resolution to make NO resolution? NO, that would be silly. BUT, I HAVE DECIDED not to be so hard on myself if I fail. That way, it's easy to just pick up and start over again.

It's like starting a diet on Monday. I used to vow every weekend to start my diet the following Monday. And like clockwork -- I'd fail. So, I started on Tuesday. For some odd reason, it just didn't have the pressure that Monday did. Strange? Yes, but it worked.

So, I'm going to be presenting some possible resolutions as well as blogs and websites that can help to keep you motivated and give you the tools to succeed in the weeks to come. If you have any ideas, resolutions, etc. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE use the comment section below and I'll see if I can address them.

Hi Etcetera,
Resolutions are easy to make but hard to follow. New Years Resolutions, if taken seriously has the power to shape your life.

Thanks Sam. I went to your site & found it very interesting. I'll do more investigating later today!

It's been quite a few years since I've made a resolution for just that reason. I've gotten in the habit to make a commitment to myself to do something, but not every year. This year was to lose with (which was mostly gained in pregnancy) I only have 15 pounds left to go on my goal and, I think like you said, it's because I haven't been so hard on myself. I've lost 34 pounds so far and although I missed my deadline I've still made great progress.

Congratulations Petula. 34 pounds is GREAT. I need to lose the stress weight (have to blame it on something) that I've gained these past couple of years (since moving to Florida). Any advice?
