BOOK REVIEW ~ Girl's Getaway Guide to Key West by Casey Wohl ~ Champagne Living

This week I had the opportunity to read the “Girl’s Getaway Guide to Key West: Leave Your Baggage at Home” by Casey Wohl. This is Casey’s second book in the Girl’s Getaway Guide series after her much acclaimed Girl’s Getaway Guide to Orlando last year. I was VERY excited to read this as my girlfriend’s and I had been talking about doing a getaway for quite a while now and living in South Florida, Key West is one of the locations that is on our “to do” list.

Casey has left no stone unturned in this travel guide that is not only appropriate for girlfriends, but singles, couples and families will find it JUST as useful. From hotels to dining out to spas,shopping, and even pilates classes, everything that you could want is included. Ms. Wohl has presented prices, amenities and how to get from one place to another easily in this well organized easy to read guide. Even the various Key West neighborhoods are covered here.

There are tips about what to do, as well as what NOT to do, like: “Driving a car on your own is not recommended in Key West. This is mostly due to the parking headaches.” Of course it wouldn't be a GIRL’S GUIDE without her personal recommendations – and WHAT a list it is. I’ve been to Key West a couple of times and there were places that I wasn’t aware of before reading this book. It’s one of those books that will be dog-eared and well used by the end of your vacation.

Whether you’re looking to travel the Champagne Living way or have money to burn, Casey Wohl has it all covered. Her secret? Although she’s traveled the world (18 countries to be exact), she’s a native Floridian and has spent LOTS of time there, so you’re not reading a book that was written by a one-time vacationer. Casey says: “I've been going to this colorful city since I was a child and have watched its transformation from a cheap, touristy town to a vibrant destination filled with art, culture, outdoor activities, water sports, history, beauty, charm, shopping, dining, nightlife and so much more.”

So, start planning that getaway with the girl’s today. You might even see me sitting at the Hog’s Breath Saloon drinking a Rum Runner when you get there.
