I'm leaving honey - dinner's in the box.

30 years of marriage and I haven't seen a date night in a LONG time.

While my idea of date night includes dinner, flowers, candles and a bottle of wine, Mr. S is much more interested in dinner in front of the television and Corvettes running through the Mecum Auctions. I love to go out and enjoy myself and he'd rather stay home. Which is why I'm always galavanting off to Las Vegas, New York and Cancun and he stays back at the mansion. It works out well actually.

Still, each time I go away, I have to prepare dinners in advance or leave food that's easy for him.

A little background info - when I met Mr. S. he owned restaurants in Providence and Newport, RI (as well as having done backstage catering, etc.). He's a FABULOUS cook. At least he was in the restaurant. They say that the shoemaker's daughter never has shoes and so it goes here, that other than throwing some meat between two slices of bread, Mr. S. no longer ventures into the culinary arts at home. Still, he expects to eat well (well being - homemade, gourmet or restaurant take-out) and tends to turn his nose up at most things that come from a box, can, jar or frozen packaging.

On this last trip I left him two boxes of dinner. I actually expected to find them just where I had left them (on the counter) uneaten. WRONG. He ate both the Wanchai Ferry Orange Chicken AND the Macaroni Grill Creamy Basil Parmesan Chicken and Pasta. Granted I prepped the chicken for him, but he said that he made them both and he was able to get a few meals for himself out of each, making dinners EASY. I asked what he DID while I was away and it sounded like he had his FAVORITE date night....Mecum Auction and Wanchai Ferry one night and Macaron Grill Creamy Basil and Barrett-Jackson Auctions another.

I can't complain, I was in Las Vegas at BlogWorld Expo having a fabulous time. I'd never begrudge him his little luxuries.

By the way, the fact that he actually took the time to boil water, add chicken and other ingredients to his meal(s) is MAJOR. So, maybe our date nights may not be EXACTLY the same....but I'm going to pick up some more of these dinners so that I can enjoy them right alongside him....even if it means watching the auctions. How come I never see any 1972 restored Karmann Ghia's come through? Now THAT'S a car I'd bid on.

If you'd like to try either the Wanchai Ferry or Romano's Macaroni Grill Restaurant Favorites and stay in and go all out!® there is a coupon available for $1.50 off  on two boxes. Stay in the know about Macaroni Grill (both restaurant and in store specialties), follow them on Facebook and Twitter.

I received a DATE NIGHT kit from My Blog Spark in order to review these products. I'll be giving the same one away below.
